curtain

Description

curtain by g is the first offering from Deep Exposure (dexp) out now exclusively on vinyl. Deep Exposure began in 2023 as a residency with The Lot Radio, hosted and programmed by g. Informed by the work of Pauline Oliveros and g’s experiences in nightlife, Deep Exposure is concerned with how music lives in peoples’ lives and is intended to serve as a guidepost towards a practice that integrates music further into the lives of listeners. g’s regular shift behind the counter at Ergot Records encouraged her to be more curious about the regular listening habits of Ergot’s regular patrons and how Adrian Rew, the shop’s owner, facilitated them. These customer interactions encouraged g to dig further into the process of creating, distributing, and curating records within the store. With some encouragement from shop favorites like Deon Jamar, g decided to push the project forward. curtain is not just a love letter to the vinyl record, but to all those who enjoy the medium and those who facilitate the exploration of sound that the culture around this medium encourages. The sounds on curtain can be distilled into a simple phrase found on the runout of this 4 track EP, “boring music, for curious people.” So, are you curious?
