Tallinn eight-piece HALDI & ANS FLAMINGO make their UK debut with “Keegi” – an alluring, siren-like take on Randy Crawford’s “You Might Need Somebody”, Reviving estrada, the soul, funk and disco of Soviet-era Estonia, sung in their native tongue, the band pair it with “Flamingod” on the flip – a flute-and-trumpet groove the UK soul scene is digging too. “The funky instrumental side feels like a blaxploitation album track – played behind Superfly goin’ crosstown on some dark enterprise,” says Chris Wells, editor of Echoes.
