Description

Conceived by choreographer and dancer Kiani del Valle, De Brujas y Fantasmas is the original soundtrack to her solo dance performance, composed by Ziur. Drawing on the myth of La Llorona, the legacy of Maria Sabina and references to Mary Wigman's 1926 Hexentanz, the work combines ritualistic percussion, drones, electronic textures and spoken-word elements. First presented at the 61st Venice Biennale as part of Kuboraum's WE TRAVEL TO KNOW OUR OWN GEOGRAPHY programme, the soundtrack explores themes of folklore, spirituality and the cultural role of women through six compositions.
