Description
Buzzi kicks off White Owl Records’ new ANIMA series with HERON, a fiery deluge of hardware madness. New York’s hometown hero proves again why he commands the city’s underground. Four live-takes display Buzzi’s improvisational freedom and deft control. Across these tense tracks, a light at the end pierces into the cavernous abyss. As Conor Krane writes in an extended meditation on the heron, available in full with the physical record, “…a team at the Centre for Wildlife Ecology in 2013 found that the Heron intentionally builds its nest close to bald-eagles, who seek to devour Heron eggs. It is only by dwelling so closely to the predatory eagle however, that the Heron is protected from a vast number of other dangers – only though proximity to peril can the Heron establish a secret and safe locus of soaring life-energy. The bravery of the Heron’s danger-seeking is in fact a form of instinctual knowledge: like Buzzi’s music, the Heron seeks locations of menacing danger, but in the service of protecting new emerging life, new bodies to tremble in vibrational song.”
