The Deeds of Gilgamesh LP

Description

Zulema Records presents Uruk Dub Ensemble, a one-off recording project created exclusively for this release. Drawing from one of humanity's oldest surviving literary works, the 12" takes fragments from the Epic of Gilgamesh and reframes them through the language of dub. Toronto-based professional narrator Ravin Wong delivers the opening lines of the epic over a heavyweight steppers riddim, framed by an ensemble of winds and zither strings. As with ZUL002 (King Tehuero), mixing, mastering and both accompanying dub versions have been crafted by Don Fe a.k.a. Jah Catalyst, whose unmistakable approach transforms the original composition into two deep steppers excursions.
