Broke Beats EP

Description

Veteran UK deep and tech-house producer Harold Heath has been enjoying something of a career resurgence of late, thanks in no small part to the success of his brilliant memoir, Long Relationships - a no-holds barred account of life as a lifelong DJ whose time in the spotlight never came. Here he inaugurates a new label via a clutch of cuts that have sat on his hard drive since the mid-to-late noughties. Check first A-side 'Blue Night', a pleasingly weighty and trippy affair in which mind-mangling noises, tech-house electronics and echoing vocal snippets ride a deep, warped bassline and suitably sturdy house beats. 'Cat Skillz' is a heady, early morning ready chunk of deep house/tech-house fusion, while 'I'm the One' sees him combine crunchy house beats and twisted acid bass with ghostly textures and brain-melting samples.
