Signals 5

Description

New York-born, Costa Rica-based house hustler Doug Gomez is back with more of his signature sounds on Merecumbe Recordings and the fifth outing is another deep dive into his rhythmic invention. 'Jackson Heights' (Deep Cumbia mix) has swirling organs that speak to the soul and reference the Latin side of New York as the sunny cumbia beats bounce along, while 'Clinton Hill' (Gates Ave mix) is awash with jazzy looseness and carefree energy. On the flip, 'Ahi' is defined by an expressive electric guitar and sax solos and 'Suave' blends Afro and Latin references into a chunky roller.
