Description

Once a year, Kompakt releases electronic music from a genre that appeals to a completely different and utterly captivating side of music - one that lies beyond DJ-oriented club music. Yes, it’s that time of year again! The latest instalment in the “Pop Ambient” compilation series is now available, and it's been released at the perfect time of year: Pop Ambient 2027. It offers a listening experience characterised by relaxed, profound depth - sounds that fill the room without demanding any specific meaning. Both familiar and new musical kindred spirits have given their all, blending into a harmonious whole on this time-honoured compilation. Listeners are invited to gently let go and simply follow the deep, light and subtle sounds, allowing their often stressed souls to drift away and their entire bodies to surrender to this ambient sound massage. This music acts like medicine, healing and deeply soothing. When the beauty of such perfectly cohesive music permeates your entire being, the only logical step is to press 'Reset' and start again. This music possesses infinite potential yet demands nothing except an invitation to enter its fantastic universe of sound, waiting to be explored and enjoyed. Music can truly be wonderful. Merry Christmas! Reinhard Voigt, October 2026 In this 27th edition of Pop Ambient, we feature some of our loyal regulars and occasional guests in new collaborations, including Pass Into Silence with Lukas Schäfer, Jörg Burger with Gregor Schwellenbach, and Joachim Spieth with Andrew Thomas. Also joining us are Reich und Würden, Leandro Fresco and Thore Pfeiffer, as well as Blank Gloss, Ümit Han, Segensklang and - making their second appearance - Hendrik Meyer and oskø. Returning after a long absence are Kenneth James Gibson and curator Wolfgang Voigt, this time as Silver Machine. A notable new addition is Cologne-based artist Christian Iparraguirre, also known as IPI. A very special contribution comes from classical ensemble Ahn Trio from South Korea, in the form of the Mikkel Metal Mix of their cover of Michael Nyman's “Time Lapse”, a piece made famous by the Peter Greenaway film The Draughtsman's Contract. Last but not least, the stunning cover art by Veronika Unland is almost like an indispensable visual 'bonus track' for the eyes. 'Gentle greetings'
