My Favorite Things LP

Description

The landmark album My Favorite Things features John Coltrane 's original studio version of the title song composed by Rodgers & Hammerstein for the musical, The Sound of Music. Many thought it an odd choice of repertoire for Coltrane, but his unusual Eastern sounding interpterion made it one of the most recognisable and popular jazz recordings of all time. It was the first LP to feature Coltrane playing soprano saxophone and an edited version of the title song was issued as a single, which gained international popularity and major commercial success. In 1998, it was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.
