Description
Somewhere in Italy, sometime between the late ’70s and the early ’80s, Dandolo seems to have found the perfect soundtrack to a world of strange encounters, questionable elegance and irresistible dancefloor rituals. Vischio is a peculiar little affair. Hypnotic percussion, funky guitars, playful electronic melodies and theatrical choirs reminiscent of forgotten Italian movie soundtracks, all wrapped around an infectious 125 BPM groove. Halfway through, a mysterious chorus emerges, chanting: “Hey, hay, amico mio, Vischio.” Nobody quite knows what it means. Perhaps that’ s the whole point. On the flip, Dubbio strips away the voices and choirs, taking the original into dub territory, where percussion, guitars and electronic textures are left to do the talking. A curious blend of cinematic nostalgia, electronic eccentricity and Italian mischief. Music that takes its dancing seriously, but not necessarily itself.
