THE PROMISE

Description

Peter Kingsbery, frontman of the legendaryband Cock Robin, once promised during a concert that he would eventually sing in French. He has kept that promise with a new, intimate, and elegant album featuring covers of both Frenchand English-language standards. On The Promise, the American artist personally rearranges iconic songs by Gerry Rafferty, Alicia Bridges, Mathieu Chedid, L'Affaire Louis Trio, Francoise Hardy, and many others, using a stripped-back arrangement of piano, vocals, and strings. Driven by his exceptional voice, Peter Kingsbery revisits these classics with deep emotional intensity, creating a subtle bridge between his American influences and his life in France. A highlight of the album is "The Promise You Made"- a cult classic by Cock Robin - which takes on a new dimension in a deeply moving rendition shared with his daughter, Shannon Kingsbery. The album also includes the previously unreleased track "Ballerine sur ma main." More than just a covers album, The Promise represents the meeting of two musical cultures of past and present - brought to life by a voice that remains undiminished by time.
