Untamed Love 7"

Description

In 2016, Jamwax tracked Peter Hunnigale down and called him from France, which led to the first official reissue of Untamed Love on 12" in 2017 (JAMWAX MAXI 08). Ten years on, a new chapter begins on 7", with Untamed Dub on the flip. Peter Hunnigale was born in South London to Jamaican parents. He became one of Britain’s great lovers rock voices, known to fans as Mr Honeyvibes. Before that he was a respected bassist and qualified engineer, playing live with The Chosen Few, The Pioneers, B.B. Seaton and more. In 1987 he won Best Newcomer at the Celebrity Awards and Best British Reggae Album at the British Reggae Industry Awards. Reggae was his first love, but Peter also had a deep passion for R&B and soul. Playing guitar, keyboards and drum machines, he could produce far beyond reggae. Untamed Love comes from that side of him. He recorded it at Omega Studio in London years before Cosmic Records released it in 1986. It’s a mid-80s boogie record built on heavy synths, a drum machine groove and that vocal: “Hey girl, I like the way you smile.” Then the record went off on its own journey without him. “My memories of the release of Untamed Love are great ones. The song gained some interest amongst the dance music elite in the UK at the time, but unfortunately I didn’t hear much about its progress after that. It was some years later that I received a call from France, from Jamwax Records, filling in the missing years of the journey of Untamed Love. I simply had no idea that the track had become a rare dance and disco anthem across Europe. Now it has the best chance of reaching the audience who love classic disco boogie dance music. The journey continues.” Peter Hunnigale
