Stratum

Description

Here comes the first taster of what the Affin label has in store for us on Joachim Spieth's forthcoming new album Strata, due to land in February 2027. ' Stratum' is a slow motion dub affair that sounds like waves breaking in space, with the subtlest rhythmic touches and echoing stabs, all topped off with a layer of straining strings operating somewhere up there in the ether. As if that weren't enough, Spieth continues the ongoing dialogue between himself and fellow German sub-bass warrior Ghost Dubs, who keeps the lazy headnodding pace at a relaxed minimum, but sharpens and intensifies the original's rounded sonics, dubbing and manipulating the ingredients until they fizzle with static electricity. Proper business.
