Tape Music Variations (TAPE)

Description

Following his 2023 debut LP on Cortizona and a 2024 tape on Dauw, Mich L. continues his sonic explorations with a new cassette on B.A.A.D.M. On 'Tape Music Variations', he explores the quiet possibilities of sound in four minimal compositions, each titled simply Variation 1 through Variation 4. Sparse and delicate, the pieces unfold with a patience that draws attention to the smallest shifts in texture, tone and duration. Recorded in a single take, mono to tape, the four variations retain the immediacy and fragility of the moment in which they came into being. There is no excess and no attempt to conceal the process. A Brussels-based musician and music programmer at AB, Mich L. approaches tape as both a medium and a space for listening. 'Tape Music Variations' invites the listener to slow down and settle into its understated movements. All tracks were recorded in 1 take, mono to tape in summer/fall 2025 in Brussels by Mich Leemans.
