Incarnate

Description

Following his low-slung remix of Customer Service’s ‘Lean Forward’ in 2023, Pugilist joins Control Freak with a solo four-track EP, and our first vinyl outing in a minute. ‘Incarnate’ spans the full spectrum of bassweight techno the Australia-based producer has become synonymous with. From commanding opener ‘Galvanize’, written with close collaborator POD, to the final wisp of ‘Hadron’, the A-side pairs swirling, atmospheric synths with insistent, hypnotic drum programming for two driving, heads-down hybrid techno weapons. The B-side dives deeper into bass territory, with broken rhythms and earth-shaking subs. ‘Malice’ is full of grit and aggression, while title track ‘Incarnate’ closes the EP with dubby vocal chops laid over a syncopated breakbeat. Vinyl run limited to just 300 copies, housed in a reverse board, centre cut sleeve.
