Ire Gbo Gbo (feat. Dele Sosimi & Lizzy Dosunmu)

Description

‘Ire Gbo Gbo’ is the second collaboration between long-time Lovemonk friend Kiko Navarro, Afrobeat icon Dele Sosimi and Lizzy Dosunmu. Drawing inspiration from highlife and soca, Kiko delivers a joyous, uplifting track that reflects what Afro house means to him today. The title ‘Ire Gbo Gbo’ is a Yoruba expression meaning “All Blessings”, “All Good Fortune” or “All Good Things”, depending on the context. Dele and Lizzy felt that Kiko’s music provided the perfect vehicle for lyrics celebrating the blessings we have, experience, yearn for or pray for in our lives. At its heart, the song encourages us to recognise and appreciate those blessings, even when faced with challenging circumstances. It is both an invocation of good fortune yet to come and a celebration of what is already present in our daily lives, our homes, our communities and the world around us — a powerful survival tool rooted in Yoruba culture and heritage. The original mix comes backed by an alternate version, offering a different angle on the song’s infectious groove. And there’s more: we brought JKriv and El Dragón Criollo on board and both have worked their magic on two fantastic remixes, taking the track in fresh and equally dancefloor-ready directions. To round things off, we’ve included a brand-new mix of ‘Ijó Yá’, their previous collaboration, giving this release an extra connection to the story shared between these three artists.
