UNEX PECTED is where MixCult follows its stranger, more melodic instincts – the sub-label for records that don’t sit neatly with the rest of the catalogue. Bureau Electronique is four tracks that pull in different directions and hold together anyway: melody and groove, a little brightness, a little haze, and the disco-ball walker on the label setting the mood. Eseym fills the A-side alone with “Circles” and “Void” – a name from the MixCult roster, last heard there on his Dimension EP. The B-side opens with Omar Beik, the Houston DJ and producer who cut his teeth on marathon nights at Stereo Montreal and in New York’s back rooms and has since landed on MixCult Digital; his “Ja The King” takes its time and keeps you guessing. Daniel Gorziza lands the title track to close – the German producer and former half of Sobar & Gorziza, whose years in minimal show in how much he does with a single moving part. UNEX PECTED Records is a division of MixCult Records
