Studio Secrets Vol I

Description

Alongside such contemporaries as Terry Francis and Nathan Coles, Rob Pearson is one of British tech-house's genuine pioneers - a DJ/producer who famously founded cult label Evasive Records at the tail end of the 1990s. Pearson has decided to launch a new label, RP Curated, which begins with a root around his archives of unreleased - but extensively road-tested - tunes (or, as he calls them 'Studio Secrets'). A-side 'Secret One' is pleasingly tough, with lightly spaced-out synth motifs and echoing female vocal snippets riding a deep, dubby bassline and loose-limbed tech-house beats. 'Secret 2' is the kind of warped, mind-mangling tech-house-funk that was once the preserve of Sheffield twosome Swag, while 'Secret 3' is a locked-in, acid-fired delight tailor-made for 4am dancefloors.
