Dusk /Illusions

Description

Illusions EP by RDS is a distinctive two-track journey, cut at 45RPM with one extended track on each side. It’s something of a throwback to longer-form club music, where tracks are given room to meander and develop, layers are gradually peeled back, and elements evolve over time. On Side A, Dusk is a driving minimal cut, built around deft instrumental work that feels both solemn and uplifting. Crisp drums and bubbling percussion drift in and out of focus throughout, showcasing the kind of expert command of hardware we’ve come to love from RDS. On the flip, Illusions (Deep Mix) is a hypnotic, bass-driven journey into the wormhole. Squelchy stabs echo across the spectrum as gorgeous synth lines punctuate this near ten-minute trip. Acid lines drift in and out as the track slowly unfolds, drawing us ever deeper — a record equally at home in the early morning as it is late at night.
